Mary Jo Werner is an expert in tax accounting. Now a partner at Wipfli LLP, she possesses over 25 years of specialized experience. She assumes a myriad of duties, responsible for consulting with clients, overseeing tax preparation representing clients at, preparing Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits and appeals and rendering individual estate planning and income tax services. She also works in the financial forensics field, which explores various fraudulent activities.

Ms. Werner also currently serves on the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel for the IRS, chosen for a three-year term from a pool of 600 applicants. A proven leader in tax planning and tax issues, she serves on the board of directors of the Family & Children's Center and is a board member for both the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation and the Chancellor's Advisory Committee for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Ms. Werner has demonstrated a unique compassion for her clients, utilizing proactive approaches to manage their finances. The highlight of her career, she noted, was helping a client reach a zero balance after being assessed a significant amount by the IRS. In this case, her expertise far exceeded that of the client's previous accountant, who recommended that he pay the balance in full.

Ms. Werner holds a JD from Creighton University and a bachelor of arts in accounting, political science and business administration from Loros College. Affiliated with the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, she is certified in financial forensics and is a certified public accountant.
