With an interest in finance instilled in her by her father, an accountant, Carol J. Smith has accumulated 25 years of experience in forensic accountancy. For the past two years, she has been the chief financial officer of Matchpoint Inc., a water assessment management company that provides water meter installations and automatic meter-reading technology equipment.

Ms. Smith earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and sociology at The University of Tulsa in 1979. Though she found it difficult to move on after a divorce, she was able to achieve success by completing her tasks efficiently and ensuring that her work spoke for itself. In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing finance and business costs, processing payroll, reconciling accounts and managing accounts receivable and payable, including loan payments. She also prepares daily reports and advises project managers and staff members. Due to the sensitive nature of working in finance, she reminds fellow professionals to "account for every penny."
