Md. Shahidul Alam Receives Professional Networking Community's Highest Honor
Md. Shahidul Alam Named Accounting Professional of the Year

BRONX, NY, August 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Md. Shahidul Alam, Accountant and Owner of Renaissance, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Accounting. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.

Best noted for his client and customer service skills, Dr. Md. Shahidul Alam has been at the helm of Renaissance, his own accounting firm, since 1995. As a veteran accountant and tax professional, he oversees the business with a human network in 29 states. He offers tax preparation services, performs business and individual accounting, conducts auditing for small companies, processes payroll, manages bookkeeping, and provides legal, real estate and other financial services. Dr. Alam brings to his company his experience in accounting, database management and accounting information system (MIS) operator at North Central Bronx Hospital, tax professional at H&R Block, and disbursement accounts representative at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He is an immigrant from Bangladesh who served on the finance committee of the Ministry of Local Government of Zila Parishad.

Dr. Alam earned a Doctorate in Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 2008 from Ashwood University, and an Executive Master of Business Administration in 2003 from Trinity University. Previously, he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1993, and prior to that he received an Associate Degree in Humanities in 1972 from Tolaram College in his native Bangladesh. He is a licensed notary public, holds a diploma in BBA (basic business accounting) and computer applications and has a license in real estate sales and management. His affiliations include the Matlab Urbane Society where he currently serves as President, the Southern Poverty Law Center, Global Violence Prevention Advocacy, the National Rifle Association, The National Notary Association, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Central Command Nirbahi Council of Bangladesh Muktijoddah Sangsad.

Deeply committed to his community, Dr. Alam is active in volunteering and social work, in 2001, he founded the Nur-E-Rob Foundation to provide scholarships to students with a GPA of 5 among 57 high school and underprivileged schoolchildren in Bangladesh. He has established an orphanage there and is working with their shelters and healthcare facilities to improve primary care for men and women in Bangladesh. In the future he hopes to launch a similar program in the United States. He provides free notary service to all his customers, as well as free legal services to the new immigrants and free tax service to welfare to-work recipients and senior citizens.
