Currently celebrating his second year as senior vice president of financial services, Mr. Hughes expertly demonstrates his ability to strategize long-term finance plans. Daily, he manages general accounting systems, monitors treasury functions, budgets payroll and produces bond-related activities for the major hospital and five satellite hospitals that encompass the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina across 29 counties. He previously served as Vice President of Financial Services for the company. Hardworking and determined, Mr. Hughes credits his success to the support he receives from those around him.

Prompted to enter his profession by his desire to serve in the health care field, Mr. Hughes is a certified public accountant. Likewise, he holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, which he earned in 1985. He maintains affiliation with The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and intends to work toward professional growth in the future.
